You can browse books and movies, use public computers, research genealogy and use our reference materials.
You’ll find our temporary location at Courtland Center (4190 E. Court St., Burton). Visitors should use the main entrance (Entrance A) and then look for the Library signage just east of Sloan Museum @ Courtland. Plenty of free parking is available, and the mall is served by the #10 bus (Richfield Rd.).
Safety is a priority in the re-opening. We’re asking people to follow the same guidelines that they do in other public spaces. This includes the use of face coverings, hand sanitizer, and social distancing. We’ll be handing each visitor a brochure that explains our safety procedures. We will also need to manage occupancy so that we don’t exceed our allowable limit. To that end, we’re asking patrons to limit their visit to one hour or less. This will allow more people to start using Library services. Also note that we have installed plexiglass shields at the checkout desk, and each computer user will receive a disinfected keyboard and mouse to use.
Virtual Holiday Entertainment
The walls might start to close in a bit this year, especially if your kids are home from school for more than just a holiday break! Make sure to join us on December 29 and 30 for family-friendly programs that will provide some entertainment and distraction. They might even help your kids burn off a little energy!
On Tuesday, December 29 at 2:00pm, we’re sharing a virtual puppet show presentation of “The Wizard of Oz.” Stevens Puppets bring this tale to life with artfully hand-carved wooden marionettes and a musical score you are sure to be humming for the rest of the day. And if your kids love it…you’ll know which book to help them download or check out next!
On Wednesday, December 30 at 2:00pm, we’re presenting the virtual show, “Cuddle Zoo and You.” Your kids can bring their favorite stuffed animals to giggle and play as we stomp and slither along with Karen’s engaging songs and animal tales! And get ready for animal boogie time as Karen wraps up her program with a jump dance party!
Of course, it’s always a good idea to stop by Flint Public Library before the holidays to stock up on books, movies and more. Our Courtland Center location is clean, safe, and ready to serve you. We’ll be open our regular hours through December 23.
Visit fpl.info for our hours, calendar, downloads, and much more.
