Flint Public Library Open @ Courtland Center

You can browse books and movies, use public computers, research genealogy and use our reference materials.

You’ll find our temporary location at Courtland Center (4190 E. Court St., Burton). Visitors should use the main entrance (Entrance A) and then look for the Library signage just east of Sloan Museum @ Courtland. Plenty of free parking is available, and the mall is served by the #10 bus (Richfield Rd.).  Standard safety protocols are in place,

We are following State of Michigan guidelines as far as being open vs. closed.  You can always check fpl.info or call us at 810.232.7111 if you would like to confirm that we are open.

Downloadable Books Expanded

Flint Public Library has offered downloadable e-books, audio books, music and magazines for years. But there’s nothing like a stay-at-home order to help more people experiment with and enjoy those resources!

At the end of 2019, we had more than 13,800 e-books and audio books in our collection.  Given the increase in usage due to COVID restrictions, we have increased our digital materials budget by about 40%, so there’s even more to enjoy.  Our digital collection spans every age and genre.  You can download everything from a picture book for a toddler to the latest best seller.

How can you take advantage of downloadable books?  From a technology standpoint, all you need is a phone, tablet or laptop, along with Internet access.

You’ll also need:

A Library card or an E-Card.  You can get a Library card at the Library during business hours.  Or you can get an E-Card (that allows you to download digital resources) any time on our website.  (Visit fpl.info, select About Us and How Do I, then follow the link for E-Cards.)

The Overdrive application.  Not sure how to load or navigate Overdrive?  You can find instructions on our website (fpl.info, then Browse & Download).  Or call the Library at 810.249.2569 to schedule a free Book an Expert session.  One of our librarians will show you how to use the tools.  Then you can browse, download and read or listen to your heart’s content!
