As the article in the next column indicates… It’s been HOT outside! In most cases, it doesn’t seem to bother your kids too much so here are a couple of ways to not only help keep your kids cool, but you might be tempted to join in on the fun too!
Make your own splash pad at home
Spread out a clean tarp, place a sprinkler nearby and ta-da! Their own splash pad! The water will eventually pool a bit, creating puddles to stomp on, sit in, or slide through. Who needs a Slip ‘n Slide?
Pool noodles to the rescue
Don’t have an actual pool to use these in? No matter! Use inexpensive noodles to make a quick sprinkler, (garden hose in one end, tape off both ends and punch random holes in the noodle) raise it up for a stay-cool limbo game that will test kids’ (or your) flexibility and balance. When done playing you can water the rest of your lawn. Heck, combine the two for even more fun!
Have a water balloon “fight”
I don’t really have to explain how this is done, do I? Just be sure to clean up all the busted balloons when you’re done.
Have fun being one of the “Cool Kids.”
