The City of Flint continues to work with local community organizations, faith-based facilities, businesses, and surrounding public safety municipalities to help with family resources and recovery efforts related to the November 22 explosion on Hogarth Avenue.

- The City of Flint Building and Safety Department has determined that 27 homes have been damaged or destroyed by the explosion with assessments for recovery in process. The City of Flint has made contact with 22 of the 27 families to determine levels of need. Five families have been relocated to hotels with one in process.
- Blight laborers continue to board and secure the windows and doors of damaged homes.
- Any community member wanting to make a non-perishable food or essential items donation, can contact Hand of God Ministries at 810-766-9278. Hand of God Ministries is also looking for volunteers to service those in need.
- Monetary donations continue to pour into the fund set up by United Way. To date, the fund has received over $17,000 from 175 donors, including the initial $5,000 donation from United Way. The City of Flint will work with the families to assess needs for fund allocation.
- Utilities at damaged homes will remain shut off until final assessment of the area is complete.
- A site manager has been assigned to assist residents with questions or concerns regarding their property.
- The Hogarth Avenue explosion area now has 24/7 security provided by Michigan Security with Flint Police Department patrol. Any unauthorized persons or groups will be asked to vacate the area as it is unsafe and still being assessed.
