Coming Soon to Kearsley Street

Library Updates

Flint Public Library is closed while construction wraps up and our staff moves back into our beautifully renovated space! You can find some great photos at YourNewFPL.info if you want a sneak peek. We are planning to reopen in April at Kearsley Street. More details will be forthcoming, so visit YourNewFPL.org for the most current information.

In the meantime, most of our programming is on hold. However, you can still access many great services and resources via our website. You will need a Library card to download books, music, and other resources.

If you don’t have a Library card, and you live in a Genesee County zip code, you can request an instant E-Card online. This will allow you to check out digital materials and use many of the services through our website, such as databases and learning tools.

One of the new online tools you will want to explore is Kanopy, a streaming service for movies, TV shows and children’s programs. Flint Public Library cardholders can stream up to eight movies or episodes per month. There’s even a dedicated Kanopy Kids site with unlimited access.

The instructions are simple:

  • Go to fpl.kanopy.com
  • On your first visit, set up a login with your library card.
  • Use that login to gain access. When you log in, you will see the number of streams you have available next to your name.

You also have unlimited access to Kanopy Kids. To access it, click the down arrow by your name and click “Go to Kanopy Kids.” You will be able to watch anything on Kanopy Kids as many times as you like. Every month you will need to click to open it again, so if you have trouble watching something, check the date.

Kanopy works on all your favorite devices, with apps for Apple, Android, Roku, Fire and Smart TVs. For more information, try here https://help.kanopy.com/hc/en-us , askus@fpl.info, or call (810) 232-7111.
