To support local journalism through Flint: Our Community, Our Voice

FNU has received a grant of $19,600 from the Community Foundation for Greater Flint to support local journalism through Flint: Our Community, Our Voice.

Flint: Our Community, Our Voice is designed to be an informative source for the people and neighborhoods of Flint to share information with each other about events and news that Flintoids would like to, and need to know.

FOCOV will use these funds to further outreach efforts in delivery of this newspaper into the community as well as having the opportunity to provide payment to citizens who write and provide content to the newspaper. We also will have funds available to help train new writers, layout and design staff and more.

Editor Christopher Frye noted “This great opportunity to improve the ability to create and distribute this paper to the community is greatly appreciated. We thank the Community Foundation and its donors for acknowledging the necessity for local news and information gathering for the betterment of Flint and her citizens.”

About Flint Neighborhoods United

Flint Neighborhoods United is a coalition of block clubs, neighborhood associations and crime watch groups, along with various community organizations, who come together on the first Saturday of each month to share information and leverage their resources to create positive change in the Greater Flint community. The group’s focus is from a city-wide perspective versus the focus of the individual members of a specific neighborhood or area within the city.
