Making Change – Lansing Catholic Diocese Youth in the Meekins’ Gardens

A team of 8 youths and their leader from several different congregations in the Lansing Diocese of the Catholic Church joined Meekins Gardens’ work team for about 5 hours to make huge changes on these 10 lots originally developed by Carolyn Meekins and her youth program on East Philadelphia Street.

This work is a part of the Lansing Diocese’s week-long Mission Commitment – and they worked hard!

Two years of “COVID careful” involvement of large groups resulted in weeds and scrub trees ‘invading’ the garden area so blackberries and growing areas – the Hoop House (Flint’s very first one), a small shed, and fence lines are cleared and ready for the gardening and dreaming of the future.

Thank You, All!
