Ask Kia (For Sound Solutions)

Q. Kia, I just don’t understand how what is supposed to be the greatest country in the world is so full of hatred and injustice. I am feeling frustrated by all the corruption in our government and how much time and money is being spent investigating people who are clearly guilty of punishable crimes. What can those of us who are just average citizens with no political power do to help our leaders enforce the laws of our country regardless of who is being investigated. Is it not true that no one is above the law?

A. You are not alone in your frustration. And it is certainly true that no one is above the law. It is unfortunate, however, that in many cases justice is not fairly served among human beings. Man’s justice is not always in line with the justice and impartiality of our Creator and is sometimes swayed by material and temporal things such as riches, celebrity, and popularity. I encourage you to place your hope and trust in God, who sees and knows all things; and is just with no respect of persons. Know too, that is God, not man, who indeed has the final say.

Q. I was so saddened by the fact that I did not get the job I applied for even though the person hiring admitted that I was the most qualified for the job. It turned out that the person who got the job was a close friend to the person hiring. Is there anything I can do to contest that decision?

A. You certainly have the right to discuss your concerns to the person hiring; but there is no guarantee that your concerns will change the situation. I hope to inspire you to not be discouraged, and to trust God for His will to be done. You may very well find that He has something far better in store for you. And you will soon be able to look back and thank Him for what turns out to be a much better position. What God has in store for you is for you, and in His perfect timing you will be blessed with the desires of your heart.

Q. Kia, I am stunned at how two people can see and experience the very same thing, and walk away with totally different thoughts, ideas, and conclusions about it. My girlfriend and I hardly ever agree on anything, and we still manage to be friends. I’m amazed, and often frustrated. Why do you think I continue to stay in such a frustrating and sometimes stressful relationship?

A. It appears that the things you have in common with your friend far outweigh your differences. We are all made in the image of our Creator, who has gifted every one of us with many different gifts and talents. And although we are all the same in His eyes, He has blessed us with many human differences. Your friendship with your girlfriend survives because the two of you are blessed to be able to ‘agree to disagree’ and focus more on the things you have in common. I suggest you continue to be you, and allow your friend to be herself, and refuse to allow your differences to interfere with you love for one another.
