Fun Ways to Develop Reading Readiness

What do seed corn and yoga have in common?  They teach skills that are important for reading readiness.  That’s why the Library is excited to invite you and your young children to some fun events coming up in November.

Little Explorers (Saturday, Nov. 12 at 11:00am) gives children ages 1-4 the opportunity to experience sensory play.  They can “get messy” with rice, pasta water, finger paints, play-doh, slime, and much more.  Sensory play has important connections to school success.  If a child has not learned to hold small objects, how is she or he going to hold a pencil?  How does a child learn to express him or herself without early exposure to paint and crayons?  Bring your kids (suitably dressed for a bit of mess!), and find great ideas you can easily replicate at home.
