Rhina H. Griffel, 1933-2022

Rhina was born July 26, 1933 in Cleveland, OH, the daughter of Samuel and Jeanne (Greenstein) Holtz. Rhina was very active in the League of Women Voters for over 50 years. She was a pillar and longtime member of Temple Beth El, serving as Hebrew school teacher and a ritual committee leader for several decades. She was a member of the Blue Ribbon Committee on Governance for the City of Flint. Rhina was extremely active in her community, including volunteering her time at Applewood and St. Cecelia Society. She was the 2019 recipient of the Donald Riegle Community Service Award from the Flint Jewish Federation.

Rhina is survived by her husband, Eugene; children, Suzanne (Saul Weiner) Griffel, Michael (Lesley) Griffel, David (Michelle) Griffel and James (Sandy) Griffel; grandchildren, Karen, Zev, Louis, Meira, Joshua, Alexander and Phillip. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Jordan Holtz. Tributes may be shared at www.sharpfuneralhomes.com
