Committee Recommends Committee Assignments to Democratic Caucus, Will Help Shape Democratic Agenda in New Congress

Congressman Dan Kildee will join House Democratic leadership by serving as co-chair of the House Democratic Steering and Policy Committee in the 118th Congress.

Kildee was nominated to serve in this leadership post by incoming House Democratic Leader Hakeem Jeffries.

“I am humbled to serve as co-chair of the Democratic Steering and Policy Committee, which will help set House Democrats’ agenda and make committee assignments for Members of Congress,” Congressman Kildee said. “I look forward to bringing the voices of Michiganders and the Heartland to the House Democratic leadership table in the next Congress. I thank Leader Jeffries for his confidence in me to serve in this position and look forward to working with our new leadership in the months ahead.”

“Congressman Dan Kildee is a fighter for working families and the middle class in the Heartland and throughout America. Amid the horrific Flint Water Crisis, Congressman Kildee united Republicans and Democrats to deliver much-needed relief for his hometown. Congressman Kildee is a proven battleground leader who knows how to bring people together to deliver results for everyday Americans,” Jeffries said.

Kildee has served as a member of the Steering and Policy Committee since being elected to Congress. In the 113th Congress, Kildee served as the freshman class representative to the committee. In the 114th and 115th Congress, Kildee was appointed by Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi to the influential panel. And in the 116th and 117th Congress, Kildee served on the committee as Chief Deputy Whip.

Kildee was recently re-elected to his sixth term in Congress serving Michigan’s Eighth Congressional District.
