MLK Day Celebration at the Library

In 1985, Gloria Coles was the director of Flint Public Library.

She decided to host a program to honor Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr at the Library because she thought his words of brotherhood, hope and peace were important to the entire community.

She was right!

They were important then, and they still are important today.  That’s why Flint Public Library celebrates this national holiday every year with a program to unite people in honor of Dr. King.

Our celebration has grown to be one of the largest in the community.  So please celebrate Martin Luther King Day with us on Monday, January 16.

The Library will be open from 9:00am-6:00pm in honor of this occasion. Our annual community celebration begins at 2:00pm.

Wanda Harden, who retired from Flint Public Library earlier this year, returns to the Library as our Mistress of Ceremonies.

The program features keynote speaker Judge Tabitha M. Marsh, District Court Judge.

The celebration will also include performances by local youth groups and musicians. We hope to see you there!
