Fun and Education in the Parks

Over the course of the Summer the Genesee County Parks, with representatives of For-Mar Nature Preserve, hosted three different events in City Parks across Flint.

‘Children’ of all ages were treated to fun and informative sessions on “Portable Pond” where we learned of macro-organisms such as damselfly larvae and midges and other minute freshwater inhabitants in Michigan waters. “Terrific Turtles” where the stars were represented by some of the species that inhabit For-Mar, such as Blanding’s, Painted, Musk, and Box Turtles. Lastly “Tree Detectives” where we learned of the various tree species that grow in all our parks and across our city. Fitting, since the Arbor Day Foundations has honored Flint as a Tree City, USA for over 20 years!
