In the vibrant heart of Flint’s Eastside, the Latinx Technology and Community Center (LTCC) stands tall as a beacon of hope and empowerment for the local community. With a steadfast commitment to addressing the pressing needs of its residents, this remarkable center has become a catalyst for positive change. A Helping Hand in Challenging Times In the face of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Latinx Technology and Community Center became a pillar of support for the community. Every first Tuesday of the month, we set up a pop-up clinic, offering free COVID-19 testing and vaccinations to all residents. This outreach played a pivotal role in curbing the spread of the virus and ensuring access to healthcare in the neighborhood.

Through our efforts, the center exemplifies the unity and resilience that characterizes the Latinx community. Advocating for State Benefit Assistance and the struggle to access state benefits can be overwhelming, leaving many families grappling with financial hardships.

Recognizing this, the center partnered with the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS).We provide trained community navigators to community members for much-needed assistance. These trained professionals help eligible community members navigate the complex application process for various state benefits, including food assistance, healthcare programs, and housing support. The center’s collaboration with MDHHS has helped countless families attain the support they deserve.

The Flint water crisis left an indelible mark on the community, and access to safe drinking water became a pressing concern. In response, the Latinx Technology and Community Center took the initiative and established the WaterBox project. This innovative and portable water filtration system has distributed over 6,532 gallons of clean and safe water alone since the beginning of the year, fostering a sense of solidarity and ensuring no one goes without this essential resource. The WaterBox project symbolizes the center’s dedication to promoting sustainable solutions and environmental consciousness.

Fostering Economic Growth Through Partnerships Recognizing the importance of small businesses in driving economic growth, the Latinx Technology and Community Center joined forces with the CNPP (Community Navigator Pilot Program) powered by the  Small Business Association partnership. This collaboration provides aspiring entrepreneurs with valuable resources, including mentorship, financial guidance, and access to networking opportunities. By empowering local businesses, the center stimulates economic activity within the community and bolsters financial independence.
