Downtown Flint in August – The Only Place to Be!

Downtown is almost always a good place to spend your time. Granted, some days and times are better than others but, overall, you almost always find something worthwhile to do.

In August, however, Downtown is definitely the place to be as 2 signature events take center stage. The annual Back to the Bricks Car Show and Cruise, celebrating its 19th year and the Crim Festival of Races celebrating its 46th!

Words rarely give these two iconic events justice so we’ll let the pictures tell the story. See you all again next year!

A famous character visited Flint just before Back to the Bricks.

Red, one of the famous Budweiser Clydesdales, stopped by the Farmers’ Market to pose with fans.

Red stands a little over 7 feet tall and weighs in at 2,200 pounds! That’s REAL horsepower!

Did you know that horsepower is calculated through the power needed to move 550 pounds one foot in one second or by the power needs to move 33,000 pounds one foot in one minute? The power is gauged by the rate it takes to do the work.

Oleksii Novikov of Ukraine, set a world record in the dead lift by lifting 537.5 kg (1,185 lbs) at the 2020 World’s Strongest Man. Meaning, technically, a human generated 3.4 Horsepower!
