Pecan Balls

A Tasty Treat from the Richardson’s Kitchen
(A long-ago neighbor shared both the cookies and the recipe – then smiled and said they are really Ambrosia Cookies.)

1/2 pound butter (2 sticks)
1 cup nuts (pecans, chopped quite small)
2 cups of flour
1 teaspoon water -perhaps more
1 teaspoon vanilla

Mix then roll into small balls.
Makes 5 dozen good sized balls.

Bake at 400 degrees.

These should not be allowed to get brown. While warm (hot!) roll in 5 tablespoons powdered sugar.

(Note: these cookies require you to stay at the oven!)

These are a delightful bite or two – not very sweet. We always include them on a plate of cookies that are rich in chocolate and decorations – and they always go quickly with “are there more?”
