You can browse books and movies, use public computers, research genealogy and use our reference materials.
You’ll find our temporary location at Courtland Center (4190 E. Court St., Burton). Visitors should use the main entrance (Entrance A) and then look for the Library signage just east of Sloan Museum @ Courtland. Plenty of free parking is available, and the mall is served by the #10 bus (Richfield Rd.). Standard safety protocols are in place,
Please note that we plan to close at some point in November to start packing up and moving back into Kearsley Street! The Library will be closed for approximately three months, although our web-based services (such as downloads and streaming) will continue to be available 24/7. The precise closing date has not yet been determined. Visit YourNewFPL.org for the most current information about the construction process and our move.
New Programs for Youth
There’s no denying that the last 18 months have been challenging not only for adults, but for our community’s young people as well. That’s why we are so pleased to be bringing back new and enhanced versions of fun, social programs for young people.
- STEAM Saturdays are a great way to expose kids ages 7-12 to the fun of science, technology, engineering, arts and math. On October 9, kids can learn about how sound is produced and make some instruments to take home. On November 13, we’ll be looking at simple machines and helping students build a catapult.
- The Teen Writers Workshop presents a wonderful opportunity for young people to practice putting their thoughts on paper. Local author Connor Coyne, who also directs Flint’s Gothic Funk Press, leads this workshop. Students ages 11-17 will learn to write, critique, and revise their work in a safe and constructive atmosphere of their peers.
- Gaming continues to be a popular way to engage people online, and it can also be a relaxing family activity. We’re introducing a new game, Brawlhalla, an online platform fighter rated E for everyone. Students ages 10-17 can join in virtually or in person at the Library for some safe fun.
Of course, we’re continuing to offer our Storytime for young Library fans, as well as programs for adults. Check out the calendar at fpl.info and you’ll find many ways to join in the fun. We hope to see you at a program soon!
Thank you for your support!
