The 44th Annual Citywide Tribute Dinner
honoring Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., will be Thursday, Jan. 12, 2023 at the Genesys Banquet Center in Grand Blanc. Centered on the theme “Grace & Perseverance Under Pressure,” this year’s keynote address will be given by Jimmie Gardner, motivational speaker, social justice activist and emotional intelligence coach.
The dinner celebration, scheduled to start at 6 p.m., is open to the public. Tickets are $50 per person.
Guests have the option to attend in-person or virtually, pre-registration is required to attend.

One of the pillars on which our university (UM-Flint) is built is engaged citizenship. We are part of Flint, just as Flint is part of us. Service to our Flint and Genesee County community is a year-round priority for us. On Monday, January 16, 2023, we will have an opportunity to continue our relationship with our community partners and celebrate the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., as we have every year since 1995.
We are happy to offer an in-person breakfast keynote speaker session with Rev. Patrick McNeal, a local community member and friend of UM-Flint, followed by racial healing circles facilitated in partnership with the Community Foundation of Greater Flint and service opportunities throughout the Flint community. Everyone is invited to attend the breakfast beginning at 8:30am.
We hope that you will be able to participate in our keynote speaker program and in the many enriching volunteer opportunities later in this semester to honor the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr.

Dr. King believed that many social ills could be defeated through citizen service.
Recognizing that 1 in 5 Genesee County families deal with hunger, we are setting out to combat this by engaging neighbors to help neighbors.
Please join us for a day ON rather than a day off on Martin Luther King Jr. Day! We will be packing 200,000 meals to provide to local Genesee County residents who are experiencing food insecurity.
No experience needed and all ages can participate – great for kids (ages 5+).
