You can browse books and movies, use public computers, research genealogy and use our reference materials.
You’ll find our temporary location at Courtland Center (4190 E. Court St., Burton). Visitors should use the main entrance (Entrance A) and then look for the Library signage just east of Sloan Museum @ Courtland. Plenty of free parking is available, and the mall is served by the #10 bus (Richfield Road).
You know the safety guidelines by now, and ours are no different! We give each visitor a brochure that explains our safety procedures. We also need to manage occupancy so that we don’t exceed our allowable limit. To that end, we’re asking patrons to limit their visit to one hour or less so that everyone can use Library services. Also note that we have installed plexiglass shields at the checkout desk, and each computer user will receive a disinfected keyboard and mouse to use.
We are following State of Michigan guidelines as far as being open vs. closed. You can always check fpl.info or call us at 810.232.7111 if you would like to confirm that we are open.
Virtual Events
We know how hard it is to be home so much more now than in the past. That’s why we’re pleased to present three events in January.
On Saturday, January 16 at 7:00pm, we’re hosting a virtual concert with singer/songwriter Greg Nagy. His music contains something for everyone, with a mix of soul, rock, gospel, blues and more.
Monday, January 18 is Martin Luther King Day. Flint Public Library has celebrated the life of Dr. King for more than 30 years, and this year is no exception. On January 18 at 2:00pm, we will present a virtual retrospective program, The Best of M.L. King Day, with new presentations from the young men of The Institute of R.H.Y.M.E.S. (Reaching and Helping Young Minorities Excel and Succeed). This program will, of course, be offered virtually via Zoom.
On Saturday, February 6 at 2:00pm, we’re presenting a virtual show with Gemini. Gemini is the performing name of twin brothers Sandor and Laszlo Slomovits. These excellent singers (capable of genetically matched harmonies) play multiple instruments and a variety of hand percussion. Your whole family will love this high-energy performance!
You can join any of these events by visiting fpl.info, clicking “Join In” on the menu and then viewing our calendar. Select the event and you’ll find the Zoom link to go with it.
Of course, it’s always a good idea to stop by Flint Public Library when you need something new to do. Stock up on books, movies and more for the whole family. Our Courtland Center location is clean, safe, and ready to serve you.
Visit fpl.info for our hours, calendar, downloads, and much more.
